Name: Urenna Onyewuchi
Occupation: Power Engineer for Corning Incorporated

Urenna Onyewuchi Contd...

Given her passion for calculation, analysis and advancing the electric power situation in Nigeria, Urenna decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering at George Mason University. She then proceeded to study for a Master’s and PhD degree also in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. She has written technical papers on asset management of power systems. She has a passion for youth empowerment, especially in Nigeria. Because she believes that investing in the younger generation is essential to the advancement of the world and world leadership, she spends time mentoring young people in the church and the community. She continues to work with a few DISS alumni to develop EmpowerDISS, an initiative we believe will prepare DISS students for a successful future. She reaches out to the alumni as a whole for their support and collaboration. She and the EmpowerDISS team are looking forward to what she hopes will become a fruitful foundation in the future. Urenna enjoys traveling, intellectual studies and conversations, theological study, writing about Nigerian mental and infrastructural development, reading fashion magazines, and learning about new cultures.

Name: Ifedi K. Odinakaeze
Occupation: Integrity Engineer for Husky Energy
Graduated from DISS in 1998. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), First Class Honours from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in 2004 and worked in Nigeria for 3 years before relocating to Canada in 2007. Read more...

Ifedi K. Odinakaeze Contd...

He obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the area of Economic System Operation and Reliability with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. He has worked with Swift Networks in Nigeria, Procter & Gamble Nigeria, Lloyd’s Register Energy Canada Limited and Stantec Consulting in Canada. Mr. Odinakaeze is a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), Canada. He is currently working with Husky Energy as an Integrity Engineer. He enjoys watching and playing football and watching movies. Mr. Odinakaeze is married with a son and lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Occupation: Project Manager for Halliburton
Graduated from Dority International Secondary School (DISS) in 2002. She obtained an Associate degree in Computer Science in 2004 from Michigan Technological University. Ifeyinwa Igboanugo Contd...

Ifeyinwa believes in developing talents and improving knowledge. She is a certified leadership professional and trained project management professional. She is certified in six sigma green and six sigma black belts. She has received numerous merits, awards and certificates for appreciation from her professional and personal works. She is a candidate for Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). Ifeyinwa has been a professional in the oil and gas industry since 2006. She currently works as a Project Manager for Halliburton. She has worked with FMC Technologies, National Oilwell Varco, Shell, 3M and Clorox. She has passion for youth development in her community. Ifeyinwa has dedicated almost 9 years mentoring and teaching 8th to 12th grade girls valuable engineering knowledge through hands-on experience with the Girls Reaching And Demonstrating Excellence (GRADE) Camp program in her alma mater, University of Houston. She plans to fulfill her long term goal of establishing a youth development center where she can empower and inspire young adults. She enjoys cooking, traveling, exploring new cultures and learning new languages. She is currently learning German and Portuguese languages on her free time.


Name: Chisom Okpala
Occupation: Senior at Harvard University
Graduated from DISS in 2010. She took a gap year before enrolling at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Currently a rising senior at Harvard, she studies Economics with a secondary concentration in African Studies. Although a Science student at Dority, she eventually decided to follow her heart and pursue her passion for Economics.

Chisom Okpala Contd...

During her time at Dority, she was very active in debate, public speaking, drama, sports and student government. She represented DISS twice at the Maltina National Reading Competition, emerging national champion at the 3rd and 4th editions of the competition. She also represented DISS at the National Computer Science competition where she also emerged national champion. At Harvard, Chisom is Co-President of the Harvard Africa Business and Investment Club (HABIC). She is excited about the indispensable role business and investment will play in accelerating the development of the African landscape, and is seeking to get more Harvard students engaged in these prospects. As Co-Director of the Keylatch Mentoring Program, she coordinates the mentoring activities of volunteers to ensure the personal growth and development of the children enrolled who are from the Boston South end. This summer, she will be interning as a summer analyst at Goldman Sachs, New York. Chisom enjoys the music of Simon & Garfunkel, drinking insane amounts of coffee and catching up on both the financial markets and celebrity news!

No matter where your from you can achieve your goals. I want to be able to offer the best healthcare system to third world countries. Someday I will love to be the first female president of my country Nigeria. I want to change the disparity between the rich and poor. I want to be the mother to the motherless.


Name: Michael Oti
Occupation: Senior Business Analyst in the Global Business and Technology
Solutions Department at Prudential Financial
Graduated from DISS in 1997. He is responsible for managing business requirements and software design-related activities for complex projects that cross multiple systems and have multiple stakeholder types.

He is also responsible for keeping the stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the entire project life cycle, actively managing stakeholders of all levels (by leading discussions about project scope and approach) and presenting business analysis findings and proposed solutions. Prior to joining Prudential in 2010, Oti was a Business Analyst and Application Consultant at IBM Global Business Services, where he helped implement Enterprise Content Management and Business Process Management software for eight Fortune 500 Financial Services firms. Oti holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Master Certificate in Business Analysis from Villanova University. In his free time, he volunteers for various youth mentoring programs in Newark, New Jersey.


Name: Henrietta Onumah
Occupation: Senior Reactor Operator at Exelon, Byron Power Station
Henrietta Onumah after DISS Class of ‘99, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Oberlin College and a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Henrietta believes in learning and has obtained further training at Illinois State University in Project Management and is a fellow of the World Nuclear University in Oxford, Great Britain in 2009. Henrietta Onumah Contd...

Her recent professional career has included: Reactor Engineer and Systems Manager at Exelon's Clinton Power Plant (CPS) and Senior Reactor Operator License at Byron Power Station. Currently Henrietta is an independent Energy Consultant. When asked what keeps Henrietta motivated to achieve, she stated: "I enjoy discovering new things that I can do. There is no one in this world who is more surprised than I am when I accomplish a goal that most say cannot be accomplished."
